This pink Thulite mineral is a very diverse stone. It was first identified on a small Norwegian island Thule, as a unique specimen, and got its name by the place. The color caused by the element manganese and often with tiny and sparkly crystals, the presence of quartz. It’s closly related to the same composition, more common green Zoisite, that often has ruby crystals in it. Since the discovery of the Thulite mineral, found other places as well. Pure pink in the Cascade mountains in Washington state, and like this stone near Smithers, British Columbia Canada.
This Canadian version looks like both Thulite and a bit of Zoisite, that makes a green pattern in it. The pendant designed to display both colors, and cut to an oval. Polished on lapidary diamond wheels to smooth and bright surface finish. Set with sterling silver 21 gauge triple lined round and half round jewelry wire wrapping, and with a silver plated 20″ x 1.5 mm snake chain necklace.
