The little polar bear carved from a natural untreated Spanish origin alabaster stone. The fine crystal structure of this specimen allows a smooth and shiny surface finish, that tempts everyone to touch it. It’s a new hand carved free-standing figurine, by a Canadian carver. Minimalist style, yet detailed enough to call it realistic. The stone also has some blue color inclusion, that shows on the right rear leg,
9.25″ x 4.25″ x 3.25″, or 23 x 11 x 8.5 cm. weights, 1.785 kg.
The stone one solid piece, carved with traditional hand tools, polished with standard water base sand papers to a bright shine. Sealed and buffed with natural non toxic bee wax. The little polar bear signed and dated on the belly, authentication certificate available upon request.
Spanish alabaster most of the time has color inclusion, usually blue, or orange. When placed with light, or a window behind, the translucent stone has an awesome tone effect.
Alabaster is a gypsum and calcium composed mineral, a soft rock 2-3 on the Mohs scale. Salt that formed by precipitation on the basin of lakes and ancient seas transformed to crystals by evaporation of water. Many colors mined around the world, however the best quality carving medium the Spanish and Italian alabaster.
