Introducing Dallasite, the Vancouver island origin gemstone. It wasn’t a long time ago when a geologist took a walk on the beach of the southest point in Victoria, and picked up a few rocks. After further examination, determined, it’s a unique specimen, that made up by epidote quartz and basalt. All of these minerals exist around the shoreline, however the melted together stone caused by under water volcanic eruption, and by the rapid cooling of the ocean, compounded this specimen. the name Dallasite dirive by Dallas road, that runs along the beach.
It might be only a black and white stone, however the pattern shows an awesome abstract like image. Sometimes it called black jasper, because of the similar hardness, and the beautiful polish it takes. Dallasite became the third unofficial stone of British Columbia.
